The shaker door remains a dominant design element in Australian kitchens and joinery. Achieving consistent, sharp profiles in this style requires tooling that is matched to the task and the material.

The Leitz CNC Shaker Door Kit provides a complete tooling solution for machining shaker-style cabinet doors on CNC routers. The kit is designed to cover the entire production sequence, from initial material removal through to final finishing, on materials including MDF, solid timber, and coated panels.

The Kit

This package includes six purpose-built cutters, selected to work together as a system.

  1. Shaker Door Hogging Turnblade Router Tool (Option: TCT or Diamond)
  2. Turnblade V-Groove Router Cutter Tool
  3. 22.5° Bevel V Cutter Tool
  4. 1/8" (3.175 mm) Downcut Spiral Wood Router tool
  5. 8 mm Downcut Spiral Wood Router Tool
  6. R2 Solid Carbide Radius Profile Router Tool

1. Shaker Door Hogging Turnblade Router (Option of TCT or Diamond)
A heavy-duty tool for bulk material removal. It clears the central panel area of the door efficiently, reducing cycle time and preserving the edge geometry of subsequent finishing tools.

  • Application: Roughing out MDF or timber panels.
  • Design: High-feed turnblade design with replaceable cutting edges.

2. Turnblade V-Groove Router Cutter
Creates the V-groove detail that defines the shaker style. The turnblade system allows for indexing of fresh cutting edges without removing the tool from the holder, ensuring consistent profile geometry over time.

  • Application: V-grooving in MDF and timber.
  • Design: Indexable carbide inserts for extended service life.

3. 22.5 Degree V Cutter
Used for machining angled details or bevels on shaker profiles. Adds dimensionality to flat panels.

  • Application: Angled profiling and detailing
  • Design: Carbide-tipped for clean cutting action.

4. 8 mm Downcut Spiral Router
A downcut spiral geometry is used here to press the top surface fibres down during cutting. This is particularly relevant when machining melamine, veneered boards, or other coated materials where surface chipping is a concern.

  • Application: Trimming and edge profiling on coated boards.
  • Design: Carbide, downcut spiral.

5. 1/8" (3.17mm) Downcut Spiral Router
A small-diameter downcut spiral for cleaning out tight internal corners and detailed areas. Its size allows it to access radii that larger tools cannot.

  • Application: Fine detail work and corner cleanout.
  • Design: Solid carbide, small diameter for tight radii.

6. 2 mm Solid Carbide Radius Tool
Applies a consistent 2 mm radius to internal corners of the shaker profile. This step improves the visual finish and reduces the likelihood of chipping during door handling and installation.

  • Application: Finishing internal corners
  • Design: Solid carbide, fixed radius geometry.
